Wii Music Game is Great Fun for the Whole Family
A new era of console games called the Nintendo Wii has gained much popularity in the past few years. The Wii revolutionizes the old way of playing other game consoles, because it features a wireless contrller that allows you to actually act out, or participate in certain games. Since the Nintendo Wii controllers detect motion, the players must move around in order to interact with the game. This provides gamers the exercise they need and keeps them from just sitting while playing their video games.
The Wii Music game is one of the newest Wii games on the market today. The game allows you to play up to sixty different instruments, and pre-existing knowledge of instruments and music is not necessary. Unlike “Guitar Hero” where you have to follow the picture on the TV screen, with the Wii all you need to do is to imitate playing the instrument, using the Nunchuk controllers and the Wii Remote. You do not have to use a series of buttons, just some simple motions, to enjoy playing a song. You choose the song that you want to play then decide if you want to turn it into a rock song or change it to classical music. You can even add a Latin theme to the song.
The Wii Music game has several settings that will allow you to train or improve your jam sessions. You can even include several of your friends in the mix. It also features a video playback; the modes can help you become a music master.
With the Wii recording, you can record your jam session and send it to your online friends to view and play along, and then they in turn can send the music back to you, until you have a perfect recording. You can even get different camera angles when using the Wii Music game.
Besides music, there are additional things that you can do with the Wii Music Game. You can take a quiz that will let you test your ear tones from low to high pitch. You can also play notes only when the tune requires you to do so. Another option within the game allows you to act as a conductor of an orchestra. You can use the controller just like the conductor’s baton and point to a particular section of the orchestra to get them to play. Your movements will make the orchestra change volume or speed to create your own unique rendition of a piece of music.
If you want to add some extra accessories such as the Wii Fit, which is used for the drums, you can place your feet on the Balance Board, which will work as pedals for bass drums and cymbals. Wii Music includes a list of songs to play, but this is only the beginning. It’s what you do with it that really counts.
The Wii Music game will automatically improve your musical ability. The Wii music games makes it possible for people to play an instrument without having to take the time out to really learn all the details and techniques. If you enjoy the thought of making your own music, I highly recommend it.

A contextual perspective of traditional Native American distance online learning in a Tribal college. $69 When learning in natural settings, Native Americans for centuries have used their Native Ways of Knowing to access and process information. These Indigenous learners bring their social, cultural, and historical contexts with them to new learning situations. The process of learning through technology as told from the perspectives of Native American learners has been largely unknown (Tyro, 2004). Previous multi-cultural studies of online learning have found that online learning is not culturally neutral and often represents the worldview of the dominant culture and the instructional designer (Chen, Mashhadi, Ang, & Harkrider, 1999; Smith & Ayers, 2006).;This single-site descriptive case study conducted at one of the 34 U.S. Tribal colleges provides further understanding of distance online learning experiences of traditional Native American adult online learners as well as the experiences of the college in preparing and facilitating online learning for remote, rural Native learners. The study, conducted according to Indigenous research guidelines, found that Native American students learn effectively within online learning environments when they work with an instructor who models NWOK and courses that are designed to enable their Native Ways of Knowing. The study also found that success depends on adequate access to technology, computer literacy, an effective and user-friendly learning management system, support and mentoring.;The study raises new questions for additional research. This study indicated that the Native students experienced an emergence of empowerment and ability to express their own “voice” through participation in online coursework. Further, learning outside the walls of the classroom gave the learners the opportunity to integrate their learning with their heritage and day-to-day lives. Further research is required to fully understand these learner experiences.;This study provides evidence that distance online learning can increase access to education |

An agent-based architecture of a remotely controllable laboratory system for an online RFID learning environment. $69 Similar to many other emerging technologies, Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID) technology requires skilled implementers for correct and effective deployment. Due to the mandates by government agencies and major retail companies, the lack of skilled personnel is the main concern for this technology, far greater than its counterpart systems. To increase the number of people who are acquainted with RFID, this thesis suggests teaching this technology to onsite and offsite college students through an online learning environment with a remote testing laboratory. Such an environment conveys the knowledge about RFID and helps learners obtain hands-on experience; a fact that has the potential to satisfy corporate needs, support collaborative educational programs, and promote RFID technology advancements. The effort in this thesis involves developing an agent-based architectural model for the remote RFID laboratory that yields the desired flexibility to change as well as other features such as the promotion of automation and the standardization of device communication. Moreover, a programming language is designed to let testers code hardware scenarios and hence, automate the task of configuring the testing setup in the laboratory. An implementation of the developed architecture is given as an example of a real testing system and its use to conduct an experiment. The implemented project is the Integrated Auto-ID Technology for Multidisciplinary Undergraduate Studies1 (I-ATMUS) project, and its material is based upon work supported by the National Science Foundation. 1Integrated Auto-ID Technology for Multidisciplinary Undergraduate Studies (I-ATMUS) and its material are based upon work supported by the National Science Foundation under Grant No. DUE0633334. Any opinions, findings, and conclusions or recommendations expressed in this material are those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the views of the NSF. |

Angel On My Shoulder $24.91 Harley Hamilton Tuck decided when he was a teenager he wanted to leave the world a better place than it was when he got here. He flew combat during World War II as a radio operator aboard a B-17 bomber, completing twenty-seven missions before bailing out of a flaming ship over France to spend a year in Austria’s infamous Stalag 17B as a Prisoner of War. Tuck took the opportunity to begin educating himself in the field of agriculture, attended college when he returned to the States, and started teaching a few years later. Tuck took his skills around the world over the course of his career, training outreach workers among the remote Hill Tribes near the Laotian border for a decade, joining the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization and relocating to Afghanistan in 1972, where he supervised a fleet of United Nations vehicles and farm equipment, working with Afghan mechanics who taught him as much as he taught them. When he accepted a UN position in Indonesia, Tuck continued training teachers, working through various programs in rural areas to improve and modernize agricultural practices. He eventually created his own Indonesian corporation to provide consulting services in his field, learning, growing, and teaching until his retirement in the late 1990s. Tuck credits the “Angel” on his shoulder for escorting him through the harrowing collection of hazards and close calls he encountered in his extensive travels. Hitch a ride from a fruit ranch in central Washington state through the fiery skies of the European War Theater, tour the back-country of Thailand, the noisy streets of Kabul and Java’s steamy jungles with Tuck for a first-class adventure with a generous-hearted and unusual man whose desire was to leave a positive mark on this world. |

Beyond the Sky and the Earth: A Journey into Bhutan $0.99 Barnes & Noble Discover Great New WritersAt age 22 Jamie Zeppa, a Canadian who had never been outside of North America, said goodbye to her fiancé and her plans for graduate school and moved to Bhutan, a remote Buddhist kingdom in the Himalayas. Beyond the Sky and the Earth is an autobiographical work that details her experiences and transformations after spending three years in Bhutan. It is as much a book about Zeppa’s day-to-day life in Bhutan as it is about the personal awakenings and realizations that she had while living there. Visitors to Bhutan, an increasingly hot tourist destination, are still few and far between, largely because of tight government restrictions on entry, visa requirements, and a law requiring tourists to spend at least $200 a day there. There aren’t many books on Bhutan, and even fewer firsthand accounts of life there. Beyond the Sky and the Earth stands out as both an informative introduction to the people and culture of Bhutan and as a beautiful piece of travel literature set against the backdrop of one of the most remote and unspoiled places on earth. Zeppa recounts her experiences living abroad — like learning to live without electricity and carrying on a forbidden affair with one of her students — in such a compelling way that even someone who has never left home will become entranced by her story and captivated by her unique experiences. Naturally, Zeppa experienced culture shock when she arrived in Bhutan. The hardships she encountered seemed insurmountable, and at first she thought she couldn’t bear it and fantasized about returning toCanada. She had to learn a new language in order to communicate with her students, she had to learn to live on her own, and she had to learn to deal with homesickness. Perhaps her biggest challenge was learning how to reconcile her growing love for Bhutan with her nostalgia for her life in Canada, her family, and her fiancé. But |
